There are few civil wars in the history of mankind that shook the entire world, and it would not be wrong to say that the Syrian civil war is one of them. The civil war in Syria is not black and white; it is not like it has a good side and a bad side; in this civil war, the rebels are also causing the same amount of damage to the civilians as the dictatorial regime is. So, it is important to know how and who started the civil war in Syria, which will make things a little clearer for you.
First of all, let us know a little about Syria. It is a very small country, with area comparable to Victoria State, and population as same as that of Australia. Syria is surrounded by countries like Lebanon, Israel, Turkey, Jordon, and Iraq.
Syrian Civil War against the Government
Talking about the Syrian regime, the government of this country was run by the Assad family, since 1971. So, it is basically a war between the Assad family and the rebels who want to throw out the government from the power. From the Assad family, Hafez Al-Assad was the first one to hold the regime, followed by Bashar Al-Assad.It is important to mention that the Assad family is not same as the other leaders in the Middle East region when it comes to being a religious extremist. Nevertheless, there are many other reasons that trigged unrest among the citizens of Syria, such as the failure of the Syrian government on the political and economic reforms.

Reasons or theories behind the war
The date March 6, 2011 is considered a major one from the perspective of Syrian civil war. On this date, some Syrian children were sent to jail for painting graffiti related to anti-government. Some of the kids were killed in detention, which filled the public with anger and they started protesting all over all the country. However, some experts also say that the protests that were going on in the neighboring countries acted as a catalyst, which in turn pushed the people of Syria to begin their own protest movements. It was the month of April in 2011 when the army of Syria open fired on the protestors, which in turn gave rise to the armed rebellions. So, this is how the civil war in Syria started. Within a short period of time, the armed rebellions started to grow in numbers; however, there wasn’t any co-ordination between the various local armed groups. So, they didn’t have a proper plan to topple down the government.
With the passage of time, Jihadists also started joining the armed rebellions, which in turn diluted the main purpose of the civil war. Since the original freedom fighters didn’t have enough arms or weapons, therefore they had to form a loose alliance with the new form of rebellion. As a result, things began turning out to be pretty ugly for the people of Syria, and the existing condition is something we all know today.
